This is a first in Mauritius! MCB has acted as lead arranger for a syndicated loan to The United Basalt Products Limited (UBP). The transaction, which was concluded at the beginning of this month, aimed at acquiring the construction division of the Leandri Group, a significant actor in the construction sector on Reunion Island. This acquisition led to the creation of Bazalt Réunion, which includes 10 companies divided into two segments of the construction sector.
MCB’s Mauritian and Regional Corporates (MRC) team structured this syndicated loan in collaboration with the Financial Institution & Syndication (FIS) and Credit Analysis and Structuring (CAS) teams.
Six local banking institutions, including MCB, granted the loan with significant interest from them. MCB, through this transaction, demonstrates the increased expertise of its teams in supporting its Mauritian corporate clients, which intend to expand their activities in the region.
