Science Quest 2023: And the winners are…

Patten College (Girls), Doha College Souillac, and Adventist College grabbed the plaudits at the Science Quest this year. Organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre, and sponsored by MCB, this competition which aims to promote science and innovation, is open to secondary school students. The prize-giving ceremony was held on Friday, 9th June 2023, at Cote d’Or National Sports Complex. This year, more than 270 students, representing 45 schools and colleges, took part in the competition.

Three categories with gold prizes each

Students of Patten College (Girls) were awarded first place in the Grades 7, 8 and 9 category with a "Effects of automatic irrigation system on the growth and development of celery plant using Arduino Uno" project.

Doha College Souillac, winner of the Grades 10 and 11 category, presented the "Keratinolytic bacteria for the production of bio-fertilizers" project.

Adventist College topped the list in the category for Grades 12 and 13, with their project entitled "Moparking: an application for live tracking of available parking spots using a microcontroller and LDR sensors".

Efforts of teachers and students praised

The Jury was composed of nine members who diligently and independently evaluated all projects based on the project report, display and oral presentation. Participants demonstrated ingenuity, creativity and innovation in their attempts to find solutions combining science and technology to solve various daily problems. The main themes are energy, recycling, agriculture, safety and health.
