Royal College Curepipe (RCC), Lycée des Mascareignes and Sookdeo Bissoondoyal SSS are the grand winners of Science Quest 2017, organised jointly by the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) and MCB Group. This competition aims at promoting science and innovation among secondary school students.

• RCC won the trophy in the category for Grades 12 and 13 with their “Walk smartly – A footstep power generating device” project. The winning team got a Rs. 20,000 cash prize. The team includes Veerendra Sharma Aubeeluck, Keertikumar Kubareea, Kesserve Valeyatheepillay, Talha Mohamed Ebrahim Atcha and their supervisor Mr. Pradeep Kumar Deenoo.

• The Lycée des Mascareignes won the trophy awarded to Grades 10 and 11 colleges, thus scooping a cash prize of Rs. 20,000. Their project was entitled : « Système multi sécurité anti-inondation ». The team comprised of Damien Maujean, Jules Corson, Max Von Arnim, Romain Aurelle and their teacher, Mr. Christophe Pitou.

• Students from Sookdeo Bissoondoyal SSS won the first prize in the Grades 7, 8 and 9 category with their “water tank level indicator”, which they described as a “ground-breaking invention at the comfort of your living room”. The winning students from this team are Cheyan Appadu, Ansheel Mooneesamy, Noah Lebon and Grufran Jaulim, who worked under the supervision of Mr. Nabeel A. Mungly. The team also got a Rs. 20,000 cash prize.
