Science Quest 2016: And the winners are…

Royal College Port-Louis (RCPL), Sookdeo Bissoondoyal SSS and Eden College (Girls) are the grand winners of the Science Quest 2016, co-organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) and MCB Group. This competition aims at promoting science and innovation among secondary school students.

Scientists-to-be
410 students split into 82 teams and three class groups took part in the 2016 Science Quest final round. The participating teams displayed innovation and creativity to use science in order to find solutions to problems at their schools or in their neighbourhood.

The winners

This year’s winners are:

  • RCPL won the trophy in the category for Lower & Upper VI colleges with their Ardino smart home project. The winning team got a Rs 20 000 cash prize.
  • Sookdeo Bissoondoyal SSS won the Form IV & V category for their electic door operated by a smartphone. The winning team also got a Rs 20 000 cash prize.
  • Eden College (Girls) topped the Form I to III category. They came up with a smart project related to school bags and purses as means of transmission of illnesses.

Teams ranked 2nd and 3rd also earned cash prizes of Rs 15 000 and Rs 10 000 respectively, whereas 4th and 5th schools got a Rs 4 000 prize for their efforts. All prizes were sponsored by MCB Group.
