The girls of Forest Side SSS were able to convince! They won the grand finale of the Deba Klima, televised on MBC 2 and MBC Sat on Monday, July 10.

This competition brings together college students and aims to raise awareness among young people and the general public on climate change issues. Deba Klima is an initiative of the MCB and the Rajiv Gandhi Science Center with the collaboration of Dr. François Gemenne, a specialist in geopolitical questions of the environment and migrations. After the final, MCB Group CEO Jean-Michel Ng Tseung announced that Deba Klima would become a regular fixture for students and encouraged more colleges to participate next year. For this first edition, 66 colleges were on the starting line of a thrilling competition punctuated by passionate debates on climate change.

A high-level final

The final, which opposed the royalists of Curepipe and the Forest Side college girls, did not disappoint, far from it. The middle school students made their voices heard on the theme: Bizin bann aksion sok pou fer dimounn pran kont bann danze ki sanzman klimatik amene. The SSS Forest Side girls favoured these aksion sok, while their opponents from the RCC were decidedly against it. In a high-quality debate moderated by the artist La Nikita, the girls of the SSS Forest Side were able to stand out and convince the jury composed of the artist Lion KKlash, Stephane Lebon, Sustainability Manager of the MCB, Sookdeo Rungoo, Manager at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre, lawyer Johanne Hague and ecologist Fabiola Monty. According to them, the participants captured the audience's attention with their respective arguments, rebuttals, and relevant examples. Indisputable proof that both teams worked hard and were ready for the grand finale.
