Permanent beacons for the Black River Gorges trail tracks

logo

The trail tracks of the Black River Gorges have been fitted with permanent beacons and markings. The official ceremony took place on Saturday, 25 June 2022, at the Information Centre in Black River.

These beacons, which have been placed on the most frequented paths of the Gorges, contain useful information, such as the difficulty, the length and duration of the route, its positioning in the Gorges, and the distance from the parking area or Pétrin. The beacons and the information they contain are of paramount importance, not only for trailers, but also for every visitor to the Gorges trail tracks, including tourists visiting our beautiful island.

All about teamwork

This project would not have been possible without the invaluable assistance of the Rando Trail and Nature (RTN) committee, as well as the members of the National Parks and Conservation Service (NPCS), who have supported us from the beginning, as well as the efforts of the trailers on each course. The sum of Rs 292,000 was invested in designing, manufacturing, and installing these beacons. This amount was raised through Leker dan Zefor, an initiative launched by MCB following its partnership with RTN. Since 2018, we contributed Rs 5 per kilometre covered during the trail-running season, to allow several lines of collaboration with RTN, both in terms of sports and extra-sports activities.
